Zimmerman questions priorities behind Round Rock ISD ‘walkout’

Travis County Taxpayers Union Executive Director and former Austin City Council member Don Zimmerman commented on today’s walk-out protest by a handful of Round Rock ISD students.

ROUND ROCK, Texas — Travis County Taxpayers Union Executive Director and former Austin City Council member Don Zimmerman commented on today’s walk-out protest by a handful of Round Rock ISD students.

“It is appalling and disgusting that radical leftist RRISD Trustee Tiffanie Harrison  is putting politics way ahead of improving academic performance, especially in math and reading.  Students need to be trained in analytical thinking — which comes from great math and reading skills — to help them discern the risks of pandemics and schemes of dishonest politicians to exploit such pandemics.

“Harrison’s encouragement for political activism above academic accomplishment should be noted by taxpayers and voters in the November 2022 election.”

Zimmerman pointed out that weather forecasts for today show a high chance of wintry mix precipitation and freezing temperatures, which makes any gauging of participation in the walkout protest nearly impossible.

The Travis County Taxpayers Union was established in 2012 to represent the best interests of Travis County Taxpayers against special public and private interests demanding subsidies at the taxpayer’s expense

From what is being reported, these students acted by themselves. What does the trustee have anything to do with their decision to speak out about their concerns? Sounds like Zimmermann is deflecting the issue! Please elaborate more to this story.
