TCTU attorneys consider challenge to Round Rock ISD ballot wording

AUSTIN – Travis County Taxpayers Union attorneys are considering the possibility of legal challenge to Round Rock ISD Prop A VATRE ballot language, which claims a 3 cent, $19 million tax increase is “an increase of 0 percent” and “additional $0.”

Roger Borgelt, an Austin area attorney representing Travis County Taxpayers Union, concurs with other attorneys that Round Rock ISD’s ballot language sufficiently confuses voters with ballot language which may not be in compliance with Texas state law.

“There is legal precedence for Supreme Court decisions against political subdivisions which deliberately confuse voters with ballot language which misconstrues a tax increase to not be a tax increase,” says Roger Borgelt.
